The Chronicles of Cthulhu
Librarian at the Boston Public Library, she's tall but otherwise unassuming, mousey hair and shy at first, relies on intellect more than brute strength, driven by familial issues and a new found sense of adventure.
Born in Portland, Maine to a wealthy family, Ellie has spent the majority of her life trying to call as little attention to herself as possible. Her relationship with her family is complicated by several factors. She never learned the family business, preferring to stick with her books and take a quiet job as a librarian. She has no head for money or business and she is naturally shy and wary of people. Seeing this, her father supported her career path and sent her to Miskatonic University to study. Her mother, a typical nouveau riche social climber type, did not approve, and their relationship became strained. While at college, Ellie found herself in a situation that she felt the need to keep secret from the world, and in particular her strongly Irish Catholic parents: she fell in love with a woman, her roommate at the dorms. Formerly close with her father, she found it difficult to talk to him while keeping this secret and estranged herself from him by moving to Boston. They correspond through letters, and he sends her money periodically, which she saves but rarely uses. Her adult life has been quiet and dull, having cut ties with her former roommate and resolved to live out her days as a spinster librarian. While working there, she became acquainted with a local fed, who asked her to help him investigate a house that was supposedly haunted. She helped out of boredom, and afterwards found herself drawn into a world of adventure, mystery, and the occult. Her life has drastically changed, and her personality is beginning to change with it as she becomes more adventurous and intrigued with these mysteries that her friends keep asking for her help to solve. The more she learns, the more she wants to know.
